    HISTORY OF THE STONE:
    • It got its name from the French word "Turquois" (= Turks). This mineral was transported by Venetian traders from Turkish markets to Europe.
    • If its color is the blue of the sky and does not contain veins of other rocks, it is considered a gem and is sold very expensive in carats. Rare and very expensive are the pieces that contain silver veins. It is usually found in pellets and more rarely in crystals.
    • Its extraction from the Sinai Peninsula is mentioned by the Ancient Egyptians from 6,000 BC.
    • Theophrastus mentions it as "Kallaitis", this was also his Greek name, which probably comes from the "good stone".
    • It was considered a precious and magical stone by the ancient peoples of Europe, Asia and the American Indians who considered it the most valuable thing in the world.
    • In the hand of the mummy of the Egyptian queen Zar were found four turquoise bracelets that are considered the oldest jewelry, since according to archaeologists the queen died in 5,500 BC.
    • The ancients believed that it is a sacred gem since it is the union of the Earth (clay) with Uranus (the blue color).
    • The legend says that it absorbs the negative energy that is directed towards its owner and breaks into pieces.
    • Today there are many imitations, painted and synthetic turquoise, e.g. "Viennese turquoise" is a simple stained glass
